The simple fact that green tea has been used to treat a wide range of ailments for more than four thousand years indicates that this natural ingredient is indeed special. Even though green tea has been a traditional medicine among the Asians for all of the past four thousand years, it is only in the past few years that scientific research into the medicinal properties of green tea has been carried out.

The findings of these studies have shown that indeed, green tea possess various curative and therapeutic features. Scientific research in both Asia and the west is providing firm confirmation and evidence for the health benefits long associated with drinking green tea.

It has also been found that in addition to boosting one’s vitality, green tea diet has properties which assist with weight loss. To date, a lot of scientific investigations have been carried out to establish the benefits of green tea diets. The outcome of these studies is positive; showing that indeed green tea diet is a healthy and effective way to lose weight.

What are the key benefits associated with green tea diet? Firstly, it’s a possible cure for cancer. Based on some studies which have been carried out in the past, some specific substances in green tea diet can wipe out cancer cells with no harm to other healthy tissues in the body.

The very essential substance in green tea diets which gives it these healing properties is called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Green tea is rich in these EGCG anti-oxidants. EGCG slows down and stops the growth of new cancer cells in the body. It also kills some existing cancer cells without harming normal cells. Additionally, EGCG is also apparently effective at stopping blood clots formation which has been known to cause thrombosis, which in turn causes stokes and heart attacks.

Some American and Swiss scientists carried out a study which also show that the EGCG antioxidants found in green tea diets can accelerate energy expenditure is a body. The conclusion of their study was that given the ability of antioxidants in green tea diet to stimulate thermogenesis (fat metabolism) is effective for losing weight. The study carried out by these scientists showed that people who were on a green tea diet showed a considerable 4% increase in their normal metabolic rates. This led the scientists to conclude that the diet has a major contributing factor in weight loss because it boosts the metabolic rate.

In a separate study that was carried out in China to further examine green tea diet’s weight loss benefits, the findings confirmed the initial conclusion that green tea indeed can assist with weight loss. In this Chinese study, it was established that green tea diet can considerably boost fat metabolism and reduce cholesterol levels. In a case study which they carried out, these scientists observed that when a green tea diet was introduced to a group of 240 people with moderate to very high cholesterol levels, after only three months, they observed that those on a green tea diet dropped 16% in their cholesterol levels. The drink is a possible cure for obesity.

In addition, the green tea diet is also extensively acknowledged as a substance that can defend the body against many different cancers such as stomach cancer, ovarian cancer, cancer of the colon, oral cancer, prostate cancer, and breast and cervical cancers. All these various types of cancer can be cured by green tea.

Green tea is definitely an extraordinary drink which helps lose weight and boost one’s health and vitality in many ways. In recent years, it has also been proved that it can successfully defend the skin from damage due to ultraviolet light radiation.

Green tea diet is indeed the miracle brew that has many benefits. The fact that it is a natural ingredient further makes it safe to consume in the long term.

Most people think only of positive benefits of green tea. However, while this type of tea does offer some excellent benefits, many directly related to health, it is also important to understand there are some negative effects of green tea leaves. Just as with many foods and drinks we consume, green tea may not be good for everyone. Therefore, we wanted to address some of the negative effects of green tea leaves so you can determine if this is right for you.

Green tea comes from a bush in the Camellia family, which is why the official name for green tea is Camellia sinensis, which is Latin. This evergreen bush has shiny, pointed leaves that have a wonderful aroma. This particular bush also produces beautiful white flowers. Today, green tea is grown in more than 50 countries to include Argentina, Brazil, and Russia, among others.

The exciting thing about this tea is that study after study shows positive effects on the body, meaning the negative effects of green tea leaves is minimal. For instance, green tea contains powerful antioxidants that have been proven to help fight various forms of cancer, as well as tooth decay, obesity, high cholesterol, and heart disease. Because of the amazing benefits, the level of consumption for green tea has skyrocketed throughout the globe.

Now, when it comes to the negative effects of green tea leaves, we want to start with pregnant women. Although most doctors agree that a small consumption of green tea is fine but when large amounts are consumed, caffeine can increase the risk of spontaneous abortion, low birth rate, and even growth retardation. Keep in mind that these risks are associated with the beverage of green tea, as well as supplements.

EGCG molecules, which are similar to a methotrexate compound, work by fighting off cancer cells by bonding with the dihydrofolate reductase enzyme, which is good in non-pregnant women. However, in pregnant women, the negative effects of green tea leaves involves involve the epigallocatechins, otherwise known as EGCG. In this situation, EGCG can affect the way in which the body uses folate, which is vital in the prevention of neural tube birth defects.

Nursing women should also consider the negative effects of green lea leaves. Remember, green tea is high in caffeine. Therefore, a woman who is breastfeeding and consuming green tea would be passing the caffeine on to the baby. Even small amounts or green tea powder used for baking, smoothies, and other foods should be avoided while nursing a baby.

In addition, negative effects of green tea leaves would link to individuals who have allergies. In this case, someone who is caffeine sensitive could develop problems such as hives and rash from consuming green tea. With caffeine being a stimulant that affects the central nervous system, other problems could result such as insomnia, excessive urination, reduction of potassium levels, and even incontinence. Just keep in mind that if you have any concerns about negative effects of green tea leaves for you, we recommend that you talk to your doctor or a health food specialist.

Green tea has become very popular due to the essential health benefits it brings. It has a very long history in being used by Asians as traditional medicine for many years. In addition to adding to one’s vitality, in recent years scientific research has also shown that green tea can help with weight loss.

The green tea diet is different from all other tea diets because its liquid is extracted by steaming the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant as opposed to full oxidation. As a result, the green tea diet preserves a lot more antioxidants for the body to use. The fact that green tea is a natural ingredient makes it a healthy drink which anyone can drink with no long term harmful side effects, unlike other drugs for weight loss.

What are the key health benefits of green tea diet?

The green tea can diet can help fight the signs of aging since it contains big amounts vitamins C and E which are antioxidants. This marvelous drink is an outstanding source of polycatechin polyphenols, antioxidants that can fight free radicals that damage cells. Heart attacks, cancer and diabetes are some of the diseases that can be caused by damaged cell membranes. Due to green tea diet’s polycatechin polyphenols, a person has a better chance of evading ailments and keeping himself healthy for a much longer period of time. One can get better vitality by simply drinking green tea diet.

There are currently ongoing studies on another antioxidant which is available in green tea diet which can potentially cure cancer. Epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG found in green tea diet has been discovered to destroy cancer cells while keeping surrounding healthy cells unharmed. By simply drinking green tea diet, one can also reduce the risk of cancer.

Some studies in recent years have also shown that drinking green tea can help lose some weight. It has been noted by a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that with the consumption of green tea diet, the body’s total 24-hour energy expenditure is boosted by up to 4%. Green tea diet helps increase the body’s metabolic rates. With its thermogenic properties, it is only natural that green tea diet can also promote faster metabolism of fats and sugars. With the green tea diet, one can therefore lose weight without doing a workout at the gym.

Green tea can also help your body fight any infections. Some recent studies have shown that drinking tea increases the immunity system, thus strengthening the body’s ability to fight diseases.

In recent years, the green tea diet has also been proved to lower blood pressure and also help asthma sufferers. Green tea contains theophylline which can help muscles surrounding bronchial tubes to relax, thus helping asthma sufferers to breathe easier.

With all these benefits of green tea diet, why should you pass up on boosting your body’s vitality and lose weight at the same time?

Are there any downside effects to green tea diet? Even though green tea diet has a reputation for boosting health, scientific evidence of its health benefits are rather mixed.

In an article published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, American researchers collaborated with their Chinese counterparts to discuss the positive effects of green tea diet on cholesterol levels. Using a sample of 240 men and women (average age 55) who possess moderate to high LDL cholesterol levels, the researchers instructed them to retain their usual low-fat diet, green tea diet intake, and activity levels. After three months, those who consumed green tea diet extract with their regular meals lost more than 15% of their total LDL cholesterol levels. This finding therefore further supported the benefits of green tea.

Based on recent studies and experience, the general consensus is that green tea offers several health benefits and also help with losing weight.

Dieting generally involves eating well and exercising. Green tea diet, like all other diets, needs a lot of effort and commitment for those who try it. This diet requires both discipline and dedication for it to make any significant impact on your weight loss goals. With the green tea diet, you lose weight and also keep your body healthy.

Green tea comes from an eastern Asian shrub that has leathery, green leaves with beautiful, fragrant flowers. When the leaves of this shrub are dried and cured, the result is green tea. For more than 4,000 years, people in Asia have enjoyed the flavor and health benefits of green tea, which has now become a number one choice for people in other countries.

Interestingly, both green and black tea comes from the same shrub. The only difference is the way in which the leaves are processed. For instance, for black tea to be cultivated, the leaves are fermented whereas the leaves used for green tea are not. Officially called Camellia sinenis, green tea medical benefits are astounding. With so much attention, we have seen a growing number of studies performed on green tea medical benefits in the past few years. The results of some of those studies are provided in this article.

In summary, green tea medical benefits include reduced risk of cancer, lower cholesterol, prevention of cavities, and calming of certain stomach ailments. To benefit medically from green tea, you can drink tea or use green tea powder in the things you bake such as cookies, pies, or make smoothies from green tea. In fact, you can purchase green tea in capsule or tablet form, sold at most health food and drug stores.

While green tea medical benefits far outweigh any risk, it is important to understand that some people can experience some side effects. These are typically minor but can be intense in some cases. For instance, if you have a sensitive stomach, then you might experience symptoms such as irritation, heartburn, diarrhea, or even a loss of appetite. Other possible side effects of green tea include insomnia, frequent urination, nervousness, and increased heart rate and/or blood pressure. Additionally, pregnant or nursing mothers should avoid taking green tea since it is caffeinated.

One of the greatest attractions to green tea and medical benefits is that it is 100% natural. Even so, keep in mind that green tea comes in various strengths so you want to pay close attention to the instructions on the product purchased. If taken correctly, green tea medical benefits are exceptional. For instance, in addition to the benefits listed, green tea is also used for weight loss.

With so many treatments that range from controlling headaches to preventing some forms of cancer, we can see why green tea has been receiving so much press. Of course, in addition to the medical benefits of green tea, it tastes delicious. Most people who sip on hot green tea agree that it produces tranquility and peace. Of course, green tea also makes an excellent cold tea, perfect for hot summer days.

If you are still unsure whether green tea medical benefits are for real, we suggest you look into many of the medical journals specific to scientific research, as well as doing your own research on case studies. As long as green tea is taken in the right amount, it will certainly cause no harm so you have nothing to lose by trying it.

Green tea is an herb that comes from Japan, China, and other Asian countries, known officially as “Camellia sinesis”. The leaves of the plant are harvested and then steamed. When consumed as a beverage or through powder made from dried leaves, green tea has shown to provide tremendous health benefit. An active ingredient found in green tea is called epigallocatechin Gallate, more commonly referred to as EGCG.

How green tea is used varies slightly from one part of Asia to another, as well as within other countries. For examples, green tea is usually consumed as a hot tea in Japan and China, often enjoyed in formal settings of a teahouse. However, when asked, “How is green tea used” referring to the United States, you will find that the powder is used for baking, to make fruit smoothies, as a cold beverage, and more.

Now, how green tea is used is not as important as making sure it is used. In other words, whether steaming, boiling, or using the powder form of green tea will provide antioxidants that have been proven through one study after another to boost health. For instance, is has been shown that green tea helps fight cancer, lowers LDL or bad cholesterol, prevents tooth decay, and even serves as a dietary supplement for people wanting to lose weight.

Since there are so many different ways for using this type of tea, we wanted to provide some tips on how green tea is used in our culture. For athletes, good carbohydrates, proper level of fat, and many nutrients are required to compete. Green tea is loaded with rich bioflavonoid elements that can improve performance. In other words, consuming the right amount of green tea daily would keep a person healthy and when used in smoothies, boost energy.

Okay, how is green tea used in fighting weight? Well, we know that Americans are currently fighting an epidemic of obesity. More than any other time in history, our society is eating worse exercising less, and walking around with excessive weight. As a result, we see a significant increase in heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, boosted blood pressure, joint pain, and more. By using green tea, appetite is often suppressed, which means less food consumption.

Next question would be how is green tea used for benefiting children? Again, when taken in the right quantity, green tea is harmless to adults and to children. You could introduce green tea into your child’s diet, knowing you are doing something positive for his or her health while also providing food rich in nutrients. For example, instead of sending your child to school with chocolate chip cookies, why not make carob and green tea cookies. The flavor is delicious and your child will be thrilled.

The bottom line is that how green tea is used is multifaceted. With so many proven benefits, we see dentists recommending it to patients to help prevent and fight bacteria in the mouth that causes plaque. We see stressed out businesspeople using green tea as a soothing drink to relax. Finally, we see green tea used in the battle against cancer. Therefore, when you hear, “How is green tea used” , you know the answer is in many forms, all helping to improve overall health.

In the past decade, green tea has become an increasingly popular choice of beverage for a number of reasons. Known to help people lose weight while also fighting off things such as cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, and bad cholesterol, green tea has become a part of people’s lives who are interested in being healthy. Interestingly, most people are completely unaware of the ingredients in green tea, which we wanted to cover in this article.

With more than 3,000 different types of tea, it is fascinating to find that green tea is among the top choice. Grown on the Camellia sinensis bush, the leaves actually produce three distinct tea types depending on how they are processed. For instance, unfermented leaves produce green tea, semi-fermented leaves produce oolong tea, and fully fermented leaves from this same plant produce black tea. For green tea, the leaves must be dried quickly, which is typically done in Chinese form by pan firing or steaming, which maintains the beautiful color, as well as high content of catechin.

When discussing the ingredients of green tea, keep in mind that this is more a reference to the nutritional value. Of course, you can purchase green tea in various flavors, which would change the actual ingredients in green tea. For instance, you might find green tea blended with mint in which case the additional ingredient would be mint or perhaps green tea blended with jasmine tea, again the additional ingredient being jasmine. Therefore, we are referring to ingredients in green tea as the nutrients.

The most vital of all ingredients in green tea is the antioxidant known as polyphenol, specifically Epigallocatechin-3-gallate, more commonly called EGCG. This particular green tea ingredient provides significant health benefits such as preventing cancer, lowering blood pressure, reducing LDL cholesterol, and even fighting oral bacteria that causes plaque, thus the reduction or elimination of tooth decay.

Another ingredient in green tea is 0.06mg of caffeine. Then, one bag of green tea contain between 80 and 100 mgs of the polyphenols with EGCG accounting for about 25 to 30 mgs of that. Then, other ingredients in green tea include theanine, which is a type of amino acid, catechin, chlorophyll, butyric acid, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C, E, F, P, and U, and certain minerals such as, saponin, saccharides, and pectin.

Each of these green tea ingredients works together to provide a wonderful product that is delicious, as well as healthy. Keep in mind that the way in which the product is made will determine the level of beneficial ingredients in green tea. For example, the Chinese people have long pan fired or steamed the leaves, retaining the highest level of nutrients. The Japanese will also steam, as well as boil and dry to create powder.

Today, you can purchase green tea in bags for brewing, in loose-leaf form, which is great for steaming, in supplements to include tablet and capsule form, or in powdered form. With powdered green tea, you can use it for baking cookies, cakes, pies, breads, or mixing in with other ingredients to make smoothies. The bottom line is that no matter how you consume this substance, the ingredients of green tea will benefit your life while providing you with a relaxing beverage or delicious food.

When it comes to tea, herbal green tea is by far one of the most, well known, and beneficial. In fact, the benefits of herbal green tea are cherished around the globe. For more than 5,000 years, different Asian countries have enjoyed both flavor and health benefits of herbal green tea but it has just been in the past 50 years that people in America have taken advantage of green tea.

When you consider that some of the benefits of herbal green tea include the prevention of cellular damage to the body, thus reduction or elimination of cancer, lower blood pressure and LDL, better immune system and cardiovascular system, and even weight loss, it is no wonder that green tea is receiving such rave reviews. In this article, we will discuss just why herbal green tea is so beneficial.

You see, this particular type of tea contains catechin polyphenols such as EGCG, which is a strong and powerful antioxidant. Although other types of tea contain these antioxidants, the difference with green tea is that it contains the greatest concentration, thus the most beneficial of all teas. With EGCG, both circulatory and heart health are improved. For this reason, herbal green tea is recommended by many doctors to patients.

Now, when shopping around for herbal green tea, you will find different levels of catechins. Whether drinking green tea, baking with green tea powder, or taking a supplement of green tea, for optimal benefit choose a product with a level of 50%. You can check the labels of various brands to determine the percentage of catechins. Keep in mind that herbs are not monitored by the Food and Drug Administration so it is vital that you purchase products from a reputable company.

Since green tea helps with weight loss, it is common to find a number of diet pills containing herbal green tea. Typically, these products are a carefully formulated dose of caffeine and green tea extract, which has been proven to burn more calories than other diet pills. In some cases, you will find herbal green tea diet pills that also contain compounds such as silica, rice powder, cellulose, and magnesium stearate.

Many times, new products are introduced to the public, making huge promises that fall short. However, with herbal green tea, the majority of researchers agree that the components offer tremendous benefit. In addition to those benefits already mentioned, others include better concentration, regulation of blood sugar, better digestion, and more.

What we know is that people from Asian countries and France where herbal green tea is a staple have lower incidences of heart related diseases. In fact, in Japan, we see a reduction of 75%! The bottom line is that herbal green tea contains a number of medicinal properties known as antioxidants that prevent damage to the body, specifically the cellular system, caused by free radicals that occur naturally but increase in number, due to things in the environment. Therefore, adding herbal green tea to your daily routine is a great way to start living a healthier lifestyle.

Over the past few years, we have heard a lot about green tea. Study after study shows beneficial effects of green tea are real. In our society, we eat too much, we consume the wrong foods, we work too many hours, and we take too little time for ourselves. To balance things out, many people are searching for a way to improve health that still fits in with a busy lifestyle. Green tea is an excellent option since it can be consumed as a liquid drink or used in baking and cooking.

In this article, we wanted to address some of the top beneficial effects of green tea so you can see for yourself why all the fuss. This type of tea is highly rich in epigallocatechin gallate, otherwise known as EGCG, a powerful and effective antioxidant. This type of antioxidant has been studied in-depth with the results showing just how powerful it is.

For starters, EGCG can inhibit the growth of cancer cells. Even better, beneficial effects of green tea also confirm the prevention of cancer cells while not harming surrounding, healthy tissue. With cancer on the rise in this country, this news is truly remarkable. Another green tea benefit is the lowering of LDL cholesterol, also called “bad cholesterol”. Many of the foods we eat are loaded with saturated fat, which increases cholesterol levels that ultimately lead to heart attack and even stroke.

Even more fascinating is that green tea beneficial effects include a study performed by the French. Most people know that French food, as good as it is, is loaded with fat. However, for some reason, French people are shown to have a much lower occurrence of heart disease than people living in the United States have. The reason is directly linked to the resveratrol in red wine. What makes this information so great is that EGCG found in green tea is 50% more powerful than resveratrol, thus reducing risk of heart disease in people who consume it.

If you look at the Chinese and Japanese cultures, they have very few heart problems. The key is the consumption of green tea. However, the difference between Asian cultures and our own is that they steam the leaves rather than boil them. As a result, EGCG is not lost, making it far more effective. Therefore, to enjoy the beneficial effects of green tea, we suggest you purchase a steamer specifically designed for tea leaves.

Other green tea beneficial effects include diet. Our country is in an obese epidemic with numbers on the rise. New evidence has been released showing that green tea taken or consumed daily helps curb the appetite, thus aiding with weight loss efforts. In fact, some of the current studies show that drinking green tea or using it in cooking helps burn far more calories than other forms of caffeine.

Finally, beneficial effects of green tea connect with tooth decay. Cavities form from bacteria found in the mouth. Even frequent brushing and rinsing cannot eliminate all the harmful bacteria. However, green tea destroys bacteria, which causes plaque. As you can see, the beneficial effects of green tea address many of the health issues each of us face every day.

To the answer “Where does green tea come from”, we need to break this down into where it is grown from a country standpoint and where it comes from, as far as a plant. Green tea has been proven time after time to be highly beneficial in the fight against cancer, along with many other serious diseases. With such a wide range of physical and mental health issues, we keep watching as green tea becomes more and more vital to our society.

Although some controversy surrounds the number of countries currently growing the Camellia sinensis shrub, which produces the leaves for green, oolong, and black tea, most experts believe the number is between 40 and 50. However, the majority of green tea is grown in China, covering some 20 provinces. The four major areas however of where green tea comes from include:

Jiangnan – Reaching the southern portion of the lower and middle Yangtze River, this area of China is one of the largest producers of green tea.

Jiangbei – This area is to the north of the Yangtze River where green tea is harvested and produced into number of varieties.

Lingnan – This area is comprised of Fujian, Guangxi, Guangdong, and Taiwan, all of them excellent for growing green tea.

Southwest – Covered in this is Guizhou, Sichuan, Tibet, and Yunnan where both green and black tea is produced.

As far as other countries and the question, “Where does green tea come from”, you will find that India, Australia, and Indonesia are other growers. As the demand for green tea has risen, so have the countries taking part in trying to keep up. Consumers around the world have discovered the delicious flavor, subtle aroma, and healing elements associated with green tea, thus boosting sales.

Okay, so where does green tea come from as far as the plant? As mentioned, green tea grows on an evergreen type shrub, which needs to grow and mature for a full five years before the leaves are ready to be picked. Once the shrub reaches age 30, it is no longer capable of producing the prized leaves.

Then, where does green tea come from goes even further to the type of fertilization used. For this tea to grow healthy and strong, various forms of organic fertilizer are used such as soya bean cakes. The tea gardens are carefully monitored and if any sign of a sick plant is seen, the plant is immediately removed and destroyed. You will also find that the season in which the leaves are picked is vital. In this case, harvesters will pick leaves in the springtime, during morning hours.

As you can see, the answer to the question, “Where does green tea come from” is twofold. This shrub must be grown in regions where temperatures hover around 75 degrees and the soil is rich. Therefore, although we see a number of countries successfully growing green tea, there are limitations. The goal with any crop is to produce only the finest leaves for green tea that is high in nutrients.

If you are interested in natural ways to reduce cholesterol, you are not alone. Natural approaches offer safe and effective alternatives in relation to coronary health and disease prevention. Using statin drugs has come under increasing scrutiny of late. Numerous complications have arisen with their use and some medical experts have concluded that a better approach to preventing heart disease would be by natural cholesterol reduction via diet and exercise. Making lifestyle and dietary changes is cheaper, safer, and may be more effective.

In seeking natural ways to reduce cholesterol you can be comforted by the knowledge that natural substances can make a difference, if you are trying to lower levels.

Garlic

In one study, garlic powder (at a dosage of 900mg per day) was shown to significantly slow the development of atherosclerosis.

Fish And Omega-3 Fatty Acids

High consumption of fish can cut the risk of dying from heart disease by 45%! The fat in fish contributes to natural cholesterol reduction, prevents blood clot formation, and lessens the chances for the irregular heart beats that cause many sudden deaths each year. High fatty acid levels can significantly reduce these risks. Taking one gram daily of an omega-3 fatty acid supplement can reduce risk of cardiac death by up to 42%.

Green Tea

This tea contains high concentrations of polyphenols, which act as powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants scavenge free radicals and free radicals can contribute to heart disease. Green tea can lower total cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol.

Licorice Extract

This extract offers anti-atherosclerotic effects.

These substances are safe and effective natural ways to reduce cholesterol and you can take them without unwanted side effects.

Including whole grain and high-fiber foods in your diet can also be a means of natural cholesterol reduction. The latest research suggests that eating soybeans, oat bran, flax seeds, and beans can help.

Supplements also offer proven benefits and are part of the picture when undertaking natural ways to reduce cholesterol.

Policosanol is derived from sugar cane and has been studied over the last decade. This substance lowers and prevents oxidation of LDL (the undesirable cholesterol). The level of LDL in a persons blood is linked to atherosclerosis (narrowing of the blood vessels, sometimes known as hardening of the arteries). Patients taking policosanol have shown increased levels of the desirable HDL cholesterol (associated with decreased risk of coronary heart disease). With a wealth of clinical research to back it, it is easy to see why policosanol is an exciting find in relation to natural cholesterol reduction and reduced risk factors for heart disease.

Beta-Sitosterol helps to lower blood serum cholesterol and triglycerides. If you are searching for natural ways to reduce cholesterol, this plant sterol can help.

Oryzanol rice bran oil works to reduce triglycerides. Because of important ingredients or constituents that it contains, it can be used for natural cholesterol reduction.

Lecithin Oil offers benefits to those with heart disease and renders an inhibitory effect on absorption. This substance can be one of the natural ways to reduce cholesterol.

A supplement containing clinically proven ingredients can be taken without fear of unwanted side effects and can result in natural cholesterol reduction, supporting coronary function and helping your body to reduce and balance levels.

Supplements safeguard cardiovascular health. If you are pursuing natural ways to reduce cholesterol, supplements may provide additional therapeutic support. When undertaking any therapy, always seek out direction from a qualified practitioner.

It is a common fact that your health is determined by what you eat. If you want to be healthy, you must eat food with the necessary nutrients which your body need.

Today, cardiovascular disease is the foremost cause of death for African-American men and women, claiming the lives of over 100,000 annually. In recent years, there has been scientific research conducted in the US to establish how antioxidant vitamins may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Based on previous studies, it has been established that antioxidant vitamins, such as vitamin E, vitamin C, and beta carotene (a type of vitamin A), have potential health-promoting properties. The data on antioxidant vitamins is incomplete for the most part but up to 30% of Americans are already taking some form of antioxidant vitamin supplement along with their diet.

However, due to the lack of sufficient data to support the success of antioxidant vitamins supplement against cardiovascular diseases and other such degenerative illnesses, the American Heart Association does not recommend using antioxidant vitamins supplements. However, they recommend continued taking of antioxidant vitamins found in the foods that we eat.

Some of the basic food groups that prove to be rich sources of antioxidant vitamins are breads, cereals, pasta, and starchy vegetables (such as potatoes, yam, squash, etc.). Fruits and vegetables; fat-free milk and low-fat dairy products, and lean meat, fish, and poultry are some of the key food items that you must eat to keep healthy. Although it is a fact that there is nothing healthier than including fresh produce in your diet, there is actually another reason why doctors insist on a healthy diet of fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are antioxidant foods are powerful at fighting free radicals which are created during the natural process of oxidation. Eating all the foods that are recommended is essential if you want to keep healthy.

Additionally, if you follow this diet and east these basic food groups, you not only ingest a high level of natural antioxidant vitamins, but you also keep fat buildup in your body. Eating a variety of foods low in saturated fat and cholesterol will provide a rich natural source of antioxidant vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

Why do we need antioxidant vitamins? Oxygen radicals are everywhere because we live in an atmosphere that contains oxygen. Oxidation is a process that naturally occurs in the body and a natural consequence of it are the radical particles that have since been referred to as free radicals. Scientists point to these so-called free radicals as the culprits when it comes to most degenerative diseases. Free radicals are blamed for even the simplest of illnesses, such as colds.

There is an increasing body of proof that oxidative stress is linked to many diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, neurological disorders, cataracts, and arthritis. Our strongest defenses against these harmful free radicals are antioxidant vitamins which are contained in the foods that we eat.

By eating the right foods with antioxidant vitamins, our bodies fight against diseases and we remain healthy.

Over the last few years, scientists have discovered compelling evidence that green tea protects our bodies against many serious diseases, including cancer. Though the research continues, it seems that its safe to conclude that adding green tea to your diet is likely a great way to protect your health.

One of the most serious cancers in our time is stomach cancer. Though its incidence has declined in recent years, it is still the second most common cancer in the world. In addition, chronic gastritis is a common problem today, and many doctors believe that those with chronic gastritis are more likely to develop stomach cancer in the future.

In Yangzhong, China, researchers from the UCLA School of Public health studied a total of 732 patients. 133 of these patients had stomach cancer, 166 had chronic gastritis and 433 were healthy and used for control purposes.

After adjusting the study for age and other factors like smoking, heavy alcohol consumption and body mass index, the study concluded that drinking green tea did, in fact, reduce your overall risk of developing gastritis and stomach cancer.

This news is very exciting; particularly to those who are at high risk for developing gastritis and stomach cancer.

Who should be concerned about developing stomach cancer?

As with any other disease, there are certain factors that make you more susceptible to developing stomach cancer. Following are risk factors for developing this type of cancer. You can better assess your risk by seeing how many of these risk factors apply to you.

Helicobacter pylori infection: This infection of the stomach is fairly rare in the US, but can be found among many people in other countries, including Eastern Europe. Many doctors believe that long term infection with this bacteria is a major contributor to development of stomach cancer. The infection usually leads to chronic gastritis and makes changes to the lining of the stomach, which can cause cancer.

Diet – Those who eat a large amount of smoked foods, salted fish and meats and pickled vegetables have a higher risk of developing stomach cancer. These products contain large amounts of nitrites, which are believed to lead to cancer. On the other hand, if your diet is rich with fresh fruits and vegetables, you can reduce your risk of stomach cancer.

Tobacco and alcohol abuse: Your risk of developing stomach cancer doubles if you smoke. In addition, it is believed that alcohol abuse also contributes to stomach cancer, though this has not been proven.

Obesity: Obesity increases your risk of developing stomach cancer, particularly in the part of your stomach closest to your esophagus.

Having Previous stomach surgery: Certain types of stomach surgery, including surgery to remove part of the stomach for treatment of ulcers or other diseases, increases the risk of developing stomach cancer later on.

Having Type A Blood – Scientists don’t really know why, but people with Type A blood have a slightly higher risk of developing stomach cancer.

History of Cancer in your family – If you have first degree relatives who have had stomach cancer, colorectal cancer or breast cancer, you have an increased risk of developing stomach cancer. There are certain inherited genetic disorders that make you more prone to certain cancers. If your family members have had these other cancers, you may possess this genetic disorder.

Stomach polyps: Polyps are non-cancerous growths on the lining of the stomach that can turn into cancer. One particular type of polyps, called adenomas appear to increase your risk of developing stomach cancer.

Geography: Stomach cancer is most common in Japan, China, Southern and Eastern Europe, and South and Central America. It is least common in Northern and Western Africa, South Central Asia, and North America.

Epstein-Barr virus: This is the virus causes infectious mononucleosis. Almost everyone is infected with the virus at some time in their lives, and it has been linked to some forms of lymphoma. But, it has been detected in 5-10% of people with stomach cancer, too. It usually causes a slow growing, less aggressive cancer. Doctors don’t quite understand the relationship between this virus and cancer.

Other Factors: Stomach cancer is more than twice as common in men as it is in women, and is more common in Hispanics and African Americans than in non-Hispanic whites. It is most common in Asians and Pacific Islanders. It is also more common after the age of 50, with a significant increase in incidence once you reach your late 60s.

If you have more than three of these risk factors, you may need to be concerned about the development of stomach cancer later in life. Drinking green tea, along with a diet rich in fruits and vegetables may be one of the most important things you can do to protect your health.

For the last several years, we have been discovering the health benefits of drinking green tea. In particular, scientists are telling us that green tea may have significant benefits when it comes to reducing our risk of cancer, and may even help slow the progress of cancer in patients who already have the disease.

The power of green tea comes from its high level of anti-oxidants. Tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant, and the tea leaves naturally contain catechins. Catechins belong to the flavan-3-ol class of flavonoids.

EGCG is one of the many catechins contained in tea, and is considered to be the most powerful anti-oxidant in tea leaves. Green tea contains more of its original anti-oxidants than black tea because of the processing that black tea undergoes. Fermenting the tea leaves, which is part of processing tea leaves for black tea, converts these catechins to other compounds and reduces their health benefits.

Anti-oxidants are important to our health because they combat free radicals in our body. Free radicals occur naturally as part of the process our body goes through when converting food to energy. Free radicals can damage our cells and our DNA if we don’t combat them.

This is why foods and beverages with anti-oxidants, like fruits, vegetables and green tea, are so important to our health. Anti-oxidants are linked with preventing cancer, and a decreased risk of stroke, heart disease and lower blood cholesterol.

Of course, all of this is very good news. However, one study seems to point us in the other direction, making it appear that green tea may actually increase the risk of developing lung cancer.

In a study conducted in Hong Kong, 200 women with lung cancer and 200 women without the disease were interviewed about their eating and drinking habits, smoking history and exposure to pollution in the environment. The study showed that the participants who were long term green tea drinkers did have a significantly higher risk of developing lung cancer.

In conjunction with the study on the patients, researchers also tested some brands of green tea that are very popular in China. They found that, when the tea had a tendency to mutate during metabolism when fed to rats. So, this may further indicate that green tea, when combined with other typical pollutants that we’re exposed to, may become chemically altered in the body. This chemical change may actually cause long term, low dosage exposure to green tea to hasten the development in some individuals.

So, as laymen, what should we conclude from this study? Well, even scientists believe that the only conclusion we should draw from this study is that more research is required.

So many studies have shown that green tea’s anti-oxidants likely have the power to help us live longer and healthier lives. This study does not specifically spell out the other lifestyle habits of the lung cancer patients who drank green tea. For example, we don’t know if a large percentage of these patients also smoked.

In addition, the study showed that the green tea drinkers consumed the beverage in fairly small amounts, but over a period of many years. So, we also must evaluate the level of exposure to tea and other factors.

From evaluating just one study, there is little information to tell us if the risk of lung cancer is increased when a patient drinks green tea in combination with some other lifestyle or environmental factor, or if there is a possible risk just from drinking green tea. This is the reason that even the scientists who conducted the study concluded that we simply need to examine the issue further.

Many studies have been conducted comparing the incidence of cancer in Asian cultures with that of European and American culture. These studies have shown that Asian cultures have a significantly lower risk of heart disease and cancer than Europe and the United States. So, it’s safe to assume that something in the Asian lifestyle is healthier. But, is it the tea?

Certainly, Asians drink more tea than westerners (although the British come in a very close second). However, Asians also are less likely to be overweight, and we know that obesity is linked to higher incidence of cancer and heart disease.

The Asian diet is healthier than ours, and they eat far more fish than we do. We know that a high consumption of fish is healthy, combating aging and disease.

But, Asians, especially Asian men, are more far likely to smoke than Western Europeans or Americans. Yet, they have a lower risk of lung cancer and heart disease.

So, as you can see, it’s a complicated issue. It will certainly take far more research to determine just what the magic combination might be. More comparison between Asian lifestyle and our own and more studies about the specific benefits and risks of certain foods and beverages may help us better determine how we can best use products like tea to preserve health.

Pregnant women would be wise to limit the amount of green tea they drink during pregnancy, and should be careful about taking any green tea supplements. Green tea is rich in antioxidants, and has a host of health benefits relating to dental health, blood sugar levels, cholesterol, and weight loss. But researchers have found, whilst examining the active constituent of green tea, the epigallocatechins, or EGCG for short, that it may affect the way the body uses folate. Folate is important for pregnant women as it prevents neural tube birth defects in babies.

The problem of green tea during pregnancy is that the EGCG molecules are structurally similar to a compound called methotrexate. Methotrexate is able to kill cancer cells by chemically bonding with an enzyme in the body called enzyme dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR). Healthy people have this enzyme also – it is part of what is called the folate pathway, which is the pathway, or steps, the body takes to transform nutrients like folate into something that can be used to support its normal functions.

But this chemical similarity means that the EGCG in green tea also binds with the enzyme DHFR, and when it does this, it inactivates this enzyme. When this enzyme is inactivated, the ability of the body to use folate is going to be affected. How much green tea is able to be consumed, or precisely how much folate absorption is affected, is unclear. Though the research article did say that drinking 2 cups of green tea a day can stop cancer cells (which is what methotrexate is targeting) from growing.

The good news on caffeine drank during pregnancy, from coffee and tea, is that a moderate amount is fine. Two studies, one by Danish scientists who interviewed more than 88,000 pregnant women, and the other by the Yale University School of Medicine, had similar findings on caffeine during pregnancy.

The concerns over caffeine were that it would lead to low birth weight or miscarriage. And this is still true of a very high daily intake of coffee. The Yale team found that drinking about 600mg of caffeine a day, which is about 6 cups of coffee, would reduce birth weight to levels that were clinically significant. The rate at which birth weight was reduced was established at being 28 grams per 100 mg, or 1 cup, of coffee per day. But they emphasized that this would not be significant for moderate caffeine consumption.

The Danish study found that drinking 8 cups or more of coffee per day (this would be about 16 cups or more of tea), would increase the chances of miscarriage, or stillbirth, by 60% compared to women who did not drink caffeine. They also found that moderate coffee or tea drinking did not pose significant risks. For those drinking half a cup to 3 cups of coffee a day, the risk of fetal death was 3% higher compared to non-caffeine drinkers. And for those drinking 4 to 7 cups of coffee a day, the risk increases to 33%. One cup of coffee equals about 2 cups of tea when comparing caffeine levels. The recommended amount of coffee drunk is up to 3 cups daily, or 6 cups of tea, by the UK food agency.
